Born in Texas and raised in Missouri,
Don's musical abilities began to sprout soon after his fascination
with a toy drum set was given to him one Christmas at the age of
five. This lead Don to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. This
intense environment pushed him to new levels by molding and refining
his natural talent. During the course of his studies, he played in a
variety of public performances, including several
performer/songwriter showcases. He logged countless hours in the
studios for various student projects and did his summer internship
at Rounder Records under Duncan Brown.
Don then moved on to Branson, Missouri
to perform with the Tom and Jaynee Vaudeville Show at Mutton Hollow,
worked with the Little Theater of Springfield, and maintained a busy
live performance schedule. The following years, he toured with
national Van Halen Tribute band, Bottom's Up and continued to work
throughout the Midwest Region with hot talents such as Tezer and
was a founding member of the Kansas City blues band Out Of The Blue with Brian Covitz and Eugene
Smiley Jr.
Don's career led him to working at the
Atlanta Institute of Music while simultaneously performing and
co-writing with one of Atlanta's local favorite bands, The Charms,
an all-original Celtic Rock band. He then relocated back to his
mid-western roots to perform with singer/songwriter Jeff Lux until Blue 88, a popular Kansas City blues
band, gave him the opportunity to fill their drum chair. The
following year, Out Of The Blue reformed asking him once again to
rejoin his band mates.
In 2005, Don moved out to the Los Angeles area and started networking with various local well-known recording artists. There he met and began performing with southern California regional guitar hero Ronny North. Upon helping Ronny complete his 5-song EP Going Psycho, Don soon left the project and moved back to Kansas City. He continues to stay busy performing and filling in for various groups.
